A record player, records and £300 have been generously donated by Thanet Lions to benefit Dementia patients at QEQM Hospital

The Dementia Visitor Scheme managed by Carers’ Support – Canterbury, Dover & Thanet aims to improve the experience of a hospital stay for patients with Dementia. Volunteer visitors spend time with patients and through talking, music and activities offer comfort and reassurance

Volunteer Coordinator, Colette Chaffey (Carers’ Support) and Dementia Nurse, Karan Scrivener work with the volunteers who give their time to provide this much needed service

Jill Attwell, CEO, Carers’ Support – Canterbury, Dover &Thanet said “We would like to thank Thanet Lions for their most generous donations, music is really powerful when supporting those with Dementia and there has been much interest in the record collection. We have been able to purchase a range of reminiscence materials for the volunteers to use including scrap books, puzzles and DVD’s which will bring enjoyment to many”

Kevin Sayer, Thanet Lions President and Alan Thomas presented the cheque for £300 to Jill Attwell, CEO, Colette Chaffey, Volunteer Coordinator and Karan Scrivener, Dementia Nurse
